This heart-warming British comedy follows the lives and loves of seven women – and one man – who every week escape the daily grind by taking a tap dancing class in a London church hall.
Former professional dancer, their teacher Mavis, is determined to get her diverse group of amateurs to show off their talents in a big charity show. Their spirits are willing – but their feet – that’s another story! You’ll be rooting for Mavis and her tappers to overcome all their obstacles and take to the stage in style.
The play is by Richard Harris, whose wife took part in a local dance class and suggested it might provide material for a play. When he visited a tap class and saw how much people were enjoying themselves, he was determined to capture the pleasure they were getting out of the class.
With a cast of characters to make you laugh and touch your heart, this ever-popular, award-winning play was also made into a successful film with Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters.
